"Although archival materials and treatment have never been a major concern in the work, the discovery that many of the larger paintings that had been stored out of doors – including examples from the Skipping Formalities and Clip Art Accumulation series -- had incurred extensive alteration (often to the work’s benefit) from exposure to the elements, led to the decision to incorporate this chance-based collaborative element into the artmaking process. The Pre-rotted series are works that incorporate materials that have already been influenced by the weather, and are subject to continued exposure to the elements throughout their realization and afterwards."
